Saurauia elegans (top), a tree related
to the kiwi-fruit, is common. An unidentified species of Saurauia
(bottom) with golden-copper hairs is very rare, and may be
an undescribed species. Saurauia occurs in both Central
American and SE Asian cloud forests, and we already grow three
Mexican species at San Francisco Botanical Garden. These from Luzon will make a
fine addition, allowing possibilities for interpreting the
biogeographical distribution of cloud forest genera.
